Who Am I?

I'm Ani, a technologist, product manager and hardware engineer. I grew up in Singapore and have been living in Canada for over a decade. I am also a dad of two young‘uns!

I got thrown into the world of product management in 2014. I'd just finished my undergrad at the University of Toronto and was working as a software consultant at Ceridian. One day, my VP came to me and said he was starting up a new SaaS company and that he'd like me to become his product manager. I think that was the first time I'd even heard the term "product manager". Within two months, I was thrown into the PM role as employee number #1 in a B2B SaaS startup. With a bit of luck, a lot of mistakes and even more help from my mentors and community, I'm still here and loving my career as a product manager. I want to share my battle scars, learnings and advice via this newsletter.

What have I worked on?

I’m a product leader with almost a decade of experience across startups, scale-ups and consulting for large enterprises. I’ve led the go-to-market for successful digital products in multiple verticals (manufacturing, B2B SaaS, fintech, ecommerce) and have consulted for some of the largest brands. I also got an MBA in 2019 from Ivey Business School (pro-tip: You don't need an MBA to break into product).

What can you expect from me?

Over the years, I've built up a wealth of knowledge about the craft of product management and technology. I will share my musings and advice through, bite sized posts.
